An Uninvited Guest Who Stayed Too Long

Meteorologists started tracking Tropical Storm Issac for a week before the spaghetti models showed it heading to Louisiana.   On August 28 after he turned into a Category 1 hurricane he stayed off the coast of Louisiana for 12 hours, dropping a lot of rain and gusting winds until, finally, headed inland.  Our street lost electricity for 3 days but no major tree loss.  Our roof and deck stayed intact and the generator kept the food in the refrigerator and freezer from spoiling.  No car damage either.  We dodged the bullet for this one but learned a valuable lesson about underestimating the power and damage of a Cat 1 hurricane.   Our neighbors to the south had major flooding with people fleeing for their lives in the middle of the night in the pouring rain.   Most made it out but 8 people lost their lives.   I count my blessings and pray for the people who are mourning their losses and rebuilding their lives.
