Amelia's Feast Day

How quickly life passes … Soon we shall all be reunited in heaven.
I love these words of the psalms very much:
“A thousand years in the eyes of the Lord are like yesterday that has already passed.”

- St. Therese of Lisieux
Happy Feast Day, Amelia.

What would she have planned for her birthday?

Today would have been Amelia's 27th birthday.  She always liked to plan her birthday party way in advance so it just makes me wonder what she would have planned for this birthday.
The beach?
Out to eat?
Cake and ice cream?
with friends?
with family?
All of the above?
I always have reminders of her around me like this labeled switch plate for piano light, fan, fan light and stairwell light.

As I recently cleaned out the pantry, so my DH could fix a broken shelf, I found way in the back a Girl Scout cup that Amelia had signed with her name.  I love seeing her hand writing on her things.  I put the cup right up front.

Then about a month ago my godchild posted in Facebook an old picture of herself and Amelia in bathing suits.   What a nice treat to see that picture.  Amelia had such a Buddha belly.

And finally when my DD-I-L had her bridal pictures taken she held Amelia's rosary in her hand.  She had the photographer take a picture of it because she knew I would just love it.

And she was so right.  I do love it.  Happy Heavenly Birthday DD (dear daughter) Amelia.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

This time of year makes me miss my children's childhood.   There were so many great memories created at Christmas time when they were young ... from riding around looking at Christmas lights in their pajamas to doing pine cone crafts with glitter and Mardi Gras beads.  Then as a family we'd go shopping for a live Christmas tree and saw it down ourselves.   Soon we'd bring it inside and decorate it with all their hand made ornaments while singing along with Christmas music.  We also did our share of baking lots of cookies in our Christmas aprons to give as presents.  Today my son is engaged to a lovely girl and visits us for Christmas and as many of you know, my daughter sleeps in heavenly peace.  Merry Christmas to all wherever you may be!

Amelia's Birthday ... she would have been 26

This vintage post card of a child playing among doves makes me think, "Could Amelia be doing some thing like this today?" I'd like to think so.

Thinking of Amelia on Her Birthday

Today Amelia would have been 25 years old. This is her third birthday we've celebrated without her with us. She is never far from our thoughts and prayers.

Easter Sunday and Feast Day

Today is my angel, Amelia's, second feast day. The day she went to heaven. Yesterday I was surrounded by lots of family at a crawfish boil to celebrate Easter. Amelia so loved crawfish and our annual Easter reunion. I was thinking heaven must have been an extra joyous place yesterday to celebrate Christ's resurrection and Amelia was there. Through God's grace I have a peacefulness knowing where she is.

That's me on the bottom left standing next to my Daddy and Mama.

Pause

I was rushing around this morning getting things together to go "play" with the Scrap Shack Chicks and had to PAUSE when I glanced at Amelia's table. Artie had placed 2 hibiscus blooms by her picture that took my breath away.

Amelia's Feast Day April 5

I have been reflecting all week on this very long year since Amelia's death. I am now anticipating the last milestone to complete the year, Easter Sunday. I've written down some memorable quotes that have given me comfort and by God's grace I am at peace because of the words.
"Make yourself familiar with the angels and behold them frequently in spirit, for without being seen they are present with you." St. Francis deSales
"Always Remembered, Every life leaves something beautiful." Hallmark 2008 ornament
"There will never be a day that I don't think of you." Andrew Lloyd Weber
"Grief is an expression that you loved well." unknown
"The love you have for Amelia keeps her spirit within you alive." Joyce Dupclay
"If I lost my faith, I knew that I wouldn't be able to survive." Immaculee'
"Suffering is meant as a way to remind us to pray. In despair we often call on God, but we forget to follow His ways or keep praying when our suffering has ended and we're happy again." Immaculee'
"I didn't just hear music. It seemed as if I were part of the music-and it played in and through my body." Don Piper, author of 90 Minutes in Heaven

Thanksgiving Day with the Family

We had a great traditional Thanksgiving dinner with most of my family. We were missing Mark and his family but we will see them around Christmas. Amelia we will see in good time. Here is Sara, Robert, Jude and Emma saying grace. Here is a picture of me, Helen, Jeanne and Rochelle toasting to good health with drinks called Poinsettias made with cranberry juice and champagne. Rochelle gave us the cute Fleur de lis shirts so we had to model them. Guess who these guys are. Answer will be at the end of this post.Sara's third birthday is in less than a week so we also celebrated with gifts. Here she is opening presents and her aunts taking tons of pictures. Ola Dora the Explorer.
Emma looks on as Sara opens her present of a red LOVE outfit. We gave the Noah's Ark latch hook rug to Sara which was bitter sweet. It was started from the bottom by Amelia earlier this year. Rochelle had sent it to Amelia while she was sick and said Sara wanted her to make it for her. I finished it and marked the back of it with a ribbon to show how far she had gone. Now here are the bald-headed men we love so much - Dave, Artie and Darryl.
